DHQ Launches Toll-Free Emergency Line 193 for Public Intelligence Support

By Emmanuel Onyedika

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has introduced a toll-free emergency line, 193, to encourage Nigerians to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing military operations nationwide.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja, announced the initiative while briefing journalists in Abuja on Wednesday. He urged citizens to share accurate intelligence either through the nearest military formation or the new hotline, assuring that all information will be treated with strict confidentiality to protect informants.

Onoja stressed that national security is a shared responsibility and commended troops for their gallantry and discipline across various theatres of operation. He conveyed the appreciation of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, to civilian communities, the Civilian Joint Task Force, vigilante groups, and other security agencies for their cooperation and intelligence support.

He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to intensifying operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other threats until all operational theatres are stabilised. According to him, the armed forces remain determined to create conditions that will enable displaced persons to return home safely and allow Nigerians to live in freedom, safety, and dignity.
