Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has picked his current deputy, Murtala Sule Galadima Garo, to run alongside him again in the forthcoming 2027 governorship election.
The announcement was made public on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement.
Gov. Yusuf revealed the decision during a meeting in Abuja with political appointees linked to President Bola Tinubu. The meeting was held at the Kano Governor’s Lodge.
According to the governor, Garo earned the ticket through his steadfast loyalty and strong commitment to Kano’s development since taking office as deputy governor.
He praised their working relationship, saying Garo has shown capacity, dedication, and responsibility in carrying out government duties.
“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my deputy in the last few months and he has proven to be the right choice so far. I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him”, Yusuf stated.
The governor also reaffirmed his trust in Garo, describing him as a reliable ally whose support has helped drive the administration’s development agenda across Kano.
Yusuf further called on party stakeholders, appointees, and supporters to stay united as the government works to build on its achievements ahead of the 2027 polls.
