Two abducted individuals have escaped from a bandits’ hideout in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State following a violent confrontation among the kidnappers on Thursday, June 18.
Security sources revealed that the disagreement among the bandits may have been triggered by dissatisfaction over the sharing of proceeds from banditry or a leadership crisis within the gang. The dispute reportedly turned violent, with the kidnappers shooting at each other, creating an opportunity for the two victims to flee.
The escapees ran through nearby communities and villages to safety. They are expected to provide critical intelligence to security operatives, including details about the hideout’s location, the number of armed bandits, and other information that could aid rescue operations for remaining victims.
Authorities say the development could significantly boost ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the area and restore security.
