The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has announced plans to strengthen human capacity development in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry with the launch of a new digital certification platform.
The initiative, known as the Nigerian Content Trainers’ Registration Certificate (NCTRC), will be officially unveiled on Monday, July 27, 2026, and hosted on the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Joint Qualification System (NOGIC-JQS) portal. It is designed to improve the quality, credibility, and standardisation of training service providers across the sector.
Developed by the Directorate of Capacity Building through its Infrastructural Development Division, the NCTRC will assess, inspect, verify, and rate training organisations based on established industry standards. The framework covers 11 specialised areas of training, including Health, Safety and Environment; Petroleum and Geosciences; Drilling and Production Operations; Facilities Design; Project Management; ICT; Entrepreneurship; and Maritime Logistics.
Training providers will undergo comprehensive evaluations focusing on infrastructure, instructor competence, equipment availability, accreditations, and documented training experience. Certified organisations will be classified into five categories according to their demonstrated capacity, with certifications valid for two years.
The Board emphasised that applications are free of charge and must be submitted directly through registered companies’ NOGIC-JQS accounts, warning against the use of consultants or falsified documents. It stressed that forged submissions would attract sanctions, certificate revocation, and possible prosecution under relevant laws.
According to the NCDMB, the NCTRC will enhance confidence in training providers, ensure compliance with international standards, and support the development of a highly skilled Nigerian workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of the energy sector.
The Board encouraged stakeholders to familiarise themselves with the NCTRC Application Guidance Notes and begin the certification process from July 27, 2026, reinforcing its commitment to building a globally competitive Nigerian workforce.
