One Week After, Kebbi Judge Released from Kidnappers’ Den

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the release of Hon. Justice Faruk Hassan Bunza, a Judge of the Kebbi State High Court, who was abducted from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area a week ago.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the judge was released on Monday, August 3, 2026. His release has been confirmed by his family and the State Ministry of Justice.

Although the kidnappers made a ransom demand, the Command reiterated its firm stance against ransom payments. With the judge now freed, police and other security agencies have intensified investigative efforts to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The statement urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in apprehending the culprits, assuring that all information provided would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

The Command expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation of the public and partner security agencies throughout the period, and reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

Justice Bunza was kidnapped in his home at Bunza town in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State last week.
