The Police Command in Osun State has released the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Mayowa Anjorin, who was arrested over an alleged shooting at a political procession in Ilesa on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed on Sunday that Anjorin was released around 1:00 p.m. on bail. He added that the Amotekun operative arrested alongside the commissioner, as well as the firearm found with him, remain in police custody while investigations continue.
According to Ojelabi, suspected armed men in a government vehicle allegedly alighted and fired shots into the vicinity of the political procession. The men were reportedly dressed as personnel of the Osun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps.
Three persons sustained gunshot injuries during the incident and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
