The Ogun State Police Command has dismantled an alleged baby factory at Abaren Village, Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children, while arresting six suspects.

In a statement released Tuesday, the command said the operation was conducted by operatives of the Mowe Divisional Police Station on Monday, August 24, following sustained intelligence on activities at a facility located on Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, via Gbarinmole.

The raid, carried out at about 8:00 a.m., revealed alleged human trafficking and illegal adoption activities. Those arrested include Florence Glory Ogbona (58), Magdalene Julius (63), Chidike Egwuonwu (40), Onyechu Chidike (35), Stephen Ogbona (39), and Oseni Kusamotu Idaya, an attending nurse.

The rescued pregnant women were identified as Ilesanmi Foluke (23, seven months pregnant) and Ejekwa Melody (20, eight months pregnant). Four children, two boys and two girls, were also recovered.

Further intelligence-led operations took officers to a hospital within the Mowe axis, where another alleged victim, Blessing Bright Effiong (26), had reportedly given birth to a baby boy on August 20. Effiong was receiving medical treatment when police arrived, but the whereabouts of her newborn could not be immediately established.

The attending nurse was subsequently arrested as investigations expanded to trace the missing baby and uncover the circumstances surrounding the child’s disappearance.

This operation highlights the command’s intensified efforts against human trafficking and illegal adoption networks in Ogun State.
