Plateau Guber Polls: PDP Governorship Candidate Picks Daniel Kim as Running Mate

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, governorship flagbearer in Plateau State for the 2027 general elections, Kefas Ropshik, has announced Dr. Daniel Kim as his running mate. He said the decision was aimed at bolstering his government with strong administrative expertise.

Ropshik made the announcement in Jos on Thursday during a meeting with PDP stakeholders and supporters, where Kim was officially presented as the party’s deputy governorship nominee for 2027.

The candidate described Kim as an experienced administrator, loyal party member, and active Christian, saying these attributes made him the right fit to support his agenda for the state.

He noted that the selection followed wide-ranging consultations with stakeholders across Plateau and was not made lightly.

“Dr. Daniel Kim has been a seasoned administrator, a party man and a worker in the vineyard of the Lord. He has every quality we are looking for in a leader,” Ropshik said.

He added that his choice was also shaped by his plan to run government like a practical, results-driven venture.

Ropshik stated that if elected, his administration would adopt a business-like approach, and Kim’s managerial background would be crucial to achieving that goal.

“I want people to know that this selection was deliberate because I am a practical personality. Our governance will be driven as a business, and that is why we need his administrative backing,” he said.

The PDP candidate pledged to turn his campaign pledges into concrete action, with priority areas including security, industrial growth, and economic development.

He said, “I’m going to practicalise all the things I’m talking about, from security to industrialization and all that.”

Ropshik further explained that extensive consultations informed the decision, and stressed that his bid was not about personal gain.

“What informed my decision to choose him is the rigorous consultation. We had a series of consultations from different stakeholders. I will continue to prove to people that my ambition is not personal,” he said.

He also criticised the current Plateau State government, accusing it of failing to live up to the mandate given by voters. According to him, the shortcomings in governance have opened the door for the PDP to present a credible alternative.

“As far as I’m concerned, the governor has betrayed the mandate given to him by the people, and everybody can bear me witness to this. I believe there is a vacuum to be filled,” Ropshik said.

He expressed optimism about the PDP’s prospects in the 2027 election, saying that despite other parties fielding candidates, the PDP is well positioned to win.

With Kim now on the ticket, Ropshik said the PDP team will focus on practical governance, administrative efficiency, security, and industrial development if voted into office.
