Security operatives have arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man parading himself as the “Director-General” of the disowned Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC.
Adeyemi was apprehended on Tuesday at a hideout in Osun State. The arrest followed a bench warrant issued by Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja after he repeatedly failed to show up for his arraignment.
Confirming the development, police spokesperson, Anetie Iniedu, said a team from the Force Intelligence Department/Intelligence Response Team, FID/IRT, carried out the operation in Osun.
The warrant was issued after a short ruling by Justice Umar. The judge noted that Adeyemi had repeatedly boycotted court proceedings.
During the last sitting, his lawyer, Genesis Francis, told the court he could not persuade his client to attend. Francis said Adeyemi claimed he was afraid for his safety and had even written an open letter to President Bola Tinubu about the matter, which he said had drawn wide public attention.
However, the prosecution counsel, Wisdom Madaki, observed that the case was being stalled by the defendant’s continued absence. Madaki asked the court to order his arrest under Section 394 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.
Ruling on the application, Justice Umar said the charges were filed on November 27, 2025, and trial began on December 4, 2025. He observed that Adeyemi had only appeared once since then.
The judge thereafter ordered his arrest and adjourned the case to September 30.
