Commonwealth Games: Nigeria Wins 6 Medals, Secures 3 Golds in Opening Games

Nigeria got off to a strong start at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, securing six medals, three of them gold, thanks to a dominant performance by the country’s para powerlifting squad on day one.
The Games, scheduled to run through August 2, have drawn roughly 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories across the Commonwealth, who will compete in 10 sports.
