President Bola Tinubu has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what he described as strong and effective delivery in the ongoing transformation of Abuja into a modern capital city.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the commissioning of the Collector Road CN2 (Emmanuel Okanla Boulevard) and other road networks in Katampe District, Tinubu said Wike has lived up to expectations since his appointment, noting that ongoing infrastructure projects are changing the face of the city and improving residents’ quality of life.
“When I gave him the assignment to make Abuja a true capital city, I knew his track record. Wike, you have not disappointed Mr. President,” Tinubu said, describing the FCT Minister as a “Mr. Project” figure whose leadership is defined by constant delivery rather than excuses.
He highlighted the installation of solar-powered street lights across major routes, which has improved safety, revived nightlife, and reduced insecurity. “Abuja’s city life is coming back, and criminal hideouts are disappearing. This is exactly what good governance delivers: security, mobility and dignity,” he added.
Tinubu said the newly commissioned CN2 road is more than infrastructure, calling it a symbol of renewed governance and progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike explained that the Katampe road project was designed to close critical infrastructure gaps and connect adjoining districts. He noted that the new road has already triggered fresh real estate development in Katampe, creating jobs and stimulating economic activity.
Wike stressed that development is not limited to the city centre, pointing to completed roads in satellite towns such as Tungan-Madaki, and announced that a major water supply scheme in Karu would soon be commissioned to improve access to potable water.
Minister of State for FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, praised the project as part of Tinubu’s broader vision of using infrastructure to drive economic growth and improve living standards.
Officials of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) said the 3.9-kilometre CN2 road includes modern drainage systems, water and sewer lines, telecommunications ducts, walkways, green areas, and solar-powered lighting, improving connectivity between Katampe, Maitama, Jahi, Mabushi and surrounding districts.
With ongoing projects across Abuja, the FCT Administration says it is steadily reshaping the capital into a more functional, connected, and investment-friendly city.
