Durumi Camp: Nigeria’s Forgotten Citizens in the Capital’s Shadows

The Durumi Camp at Area One is one of 18 temporary settlements reserved for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory. It is littered with makeshift structures erected with tarpaulin and cellophane bags. Around 4,000 residents, predominantly women and children, are crammed into filthy cubicles built without provisions for ventilation.
